This project developed the new UTMB University Plaza on the east end of the campus and included a pedestrian plaza, an integrated public/patient parking garage, a loop road and underground utility infrastructure to support 3 million SF of new research/medical building development around the Plaza perimeter at a cost of $18,000,000. E&C provided M/E/P design services for the Plaza parking garage and underground infrastructure utilities including thermal utility (chilled water, steam and pumped condensate) and electrical utility (CenterPoint Energy (CPE) primary power) distribution. The thermal utility distribution extended the existing campus thermal utilities to circle the Plaza, closing the thermal utility distribution loop, with valved taps to serve each future building site. The electrical distribution provided new ductbanks to extend the existing CPE distribution on the site to loop the plaza with provisions to serve each future building site.
