E&C provided mechanical and plumbing design services to upgrade an existing 13 story 600,000 square foot high rise office building to serve as HCCS new headquarters facility. The M/P design included bringing the building in compliance with current codes and ADA. The project included a new 8 story 1600 parking space garage and pedestrian bridge to connect the new garage to the existing building, Culinary Arts Facility and TV Studio. Upgrades included testing of existing systems for pressure, reliability, capacity, operation and IAQ cleanliness. Mechanical central plant and penthouse and basement upgrades included the installation of (2) 900 ton and (1) 450 ton high efficiency centrifugal chillers, (2) 125BHP natural gas-fired heating hot water boilers, primary secondary chilled water pumping system, 60 ton air-cooled chiller on back-up power source to serve the cooling requirements of critical equipment and space operation, converting (5) 90,000 CFM triple deck constant volume built-up air units to VAV operation, stairwell pressurization systems, fans, VAV air terminals, new Building Control and Automation System (BCAS) with DDC controls linking all the various HCCS sites to be controlled and monitored from this building. Total construction costs were estimated at $40 million.
